This is a beautiful composition for strings from composer and violinist, Sandra Goldberg. In her own words, " It expresses the feelings of being closed in, unable to break out, unable to be close to my friends, the frustrations, the sadness and pain of what this crisis is causing, but also of the introspection from within and appreciation of the beauty found in the nearby surroundings -- whether a budding rose, a bumbling hedgehog in the garden, or a deer appearing in the woods."
The American-Swiss violinist Sandra Goldberg has been heard as soloist and chamber music player in the USA, Canada, Europe and the Far East as well as in renowned music festivals such as the Grand Teton, Aspen, and “Carinthian Summer” festivals. She has been featured as soloist with the Zürich Chamber Orchestra and other orchestras, including the National Russian Philharmonic Orchestra of Tomsk, and she has premiered several new works. As a competition winner, she has performed in Chicago’s Orchestra Hall and Carnegie Recital Hall.
Ms. Goldberg holds degrees from the Peabody Conservatory and Eastman School of Music, where she studied with Berl Senofsky and Donald Weilerstein, and she has performed in the master classes of Nathan Milstein and Szymon Goldberg. Besides international radio and television performances of solo and chamber music, Sandra Goldberg can be heard on CD with the Zürich Chamber Orchestra, Opera Nova Zürich, with Swiss clarinetist Josias Just, and with the Trio Bellerive. In 1985 she joined the Zürich Chamber Orchestra to fill the position of third solo violin and was assistant concertmaster from 1999-2003.
Since her retirement from the Chamber Orchestra in May 2017, she continues to perform and also teaches at the Music School Conservatory in Zürich. In addition to these activities she has been developing and expanding her talents as a composer in various genres including music for children, cello ensemble, clarinet ensemble, songs and works for orchestra. Currently she is working on an orchestral musical story for children.
