The World of Music According to Starker is the cellist's autobiography covering his life from his early years. You need not be a cellist yourself to enjoy this book (although it probably helps) finding interest in his story. There are many interesting anecdotes covering WWII, his education, his performances and tours as well as his personal life. The final section of the book is based on lectures related to playing the violoncello.
